The Bridge to Somewhere
This entry was posted on Dec 10 2008
Back in October, I took a lunchtime photowalk with some friends along the Mississippi River in Downtown Minneapolis. This is the railroad bridge from Nicollet Island to downtown Minneapolis over the Mississippi River. About a minute later, a freight train roared through this exact spot.
Vital Stats: Canon 40D w/Canon 10-22mm lens @ 10mm. ISO100, f/5.6, 1/250sec.

I took that exact same pic, from a bit farther back and at 17mm vs. 10mm. Unfortunately, 17mm is as wide as the Andersonfam kit gets currently. The effect of the 10mm is really stunning.
Err…now that I examine the EXIF for that photo, it looks like I took it at 34mm. Not sure what I was thinking there.
Funny – from being 10 feet back, it looks like a completely different spot. Looking through Hilden’s fisheye was even MORE dramatic.
Very true. For comparison’s sake, I went ahead and uploaded Matt’s version of the picture.
This picture was taken by a friend of ours with an old medium-format and a fisheye lens. You can see Matt in action with this awesome boat-anchor of a camera here. Oh, and for a bunch more geek points, Matt hand-developed this at home. Not too shabby
