I love photos that take some degree of sacrifice to achieve. This shot involved getting up at 3:30AM and driving for an hour along the infamous serpentine Hana Highway in pitch blackness. Once I arrived at Ke’anae moments before dawn, I had to scurry over lots of jagged dangerous lava and dodge breaking waves to get to this shot.
