Pfalzgrafenstein castle

Taking this picture was the strangest bit of Deja Vu.  I’ve been looking at this exact scene my entire life without knowing what – or where – it is.  My grandparents had a large poster of this castle (drawn with pencil sometime back in the 50’s or 60’s) hanging in their basement.  I hadn’t really thought about it until we sailed around the bend in the Rhine and saw this castle.  At that moment it clicked – it was the castle I’ve been looking at for years.  Very strange.

BTW: The tiny overhanging room in the dead center is the latrine.  I’ll let you figure out what the smear down the wall is.

Vital Stats: Canon 5050z @ 11.9mm, ISO 95, f/2.0, 1/50 sec.

I never put those two together!!! I remember the real castle on the island in the Rhine. I’ll have to check the poster next time I’m in the Cities.
