Morning Brittlebushes

Powered By SmugWP

This shot was from our morning hike up Borrego Palm canyon right behind our campground.  This is one of the two best areas that we’ve found to shoot at so far.  There are bushes like this literally everywhere dotting the washes and rocks with splashes of yellow.  We rose way before dawn and hiked into the canyon mouth where we started scouting for the ‘perfect’ bush.

From a photographic perspective – the window is very narrow.  It’s good for about five minutes – then the light gets very bright and hard.

Vital Stats: Canon 5D Mark II w/Canon 17-40mm f/4L @ 40mm  w/B+W MRC Circular Polarizer and 3-stop soft NG filter in a cokin mount.  ISO 100, f/22, 5 sec.
