Sand Verbenas

We returned to the Motherload last night to give it one last shot at making a memorable picture.  It was a hot, dry day in Borrego Springs – and these conditions really took a toll on the wildflowers.  The amount of wilting made it clear that we really only had one more crack at getting the perfect shot.

We squeezed in this shot in the few minutes that the sun was good – and before contrails entered the frame to ruin any future pictures.

Vital Stats: Canon 5D Mark II w/Canon 17-40 f/4L @ 40mm  ISO 100, f/16, .4 sec.

    WOW absolutely fantastic Mark!
I didn’t see any pink flowers out there. There were a zillion yellow ones but no pink. GREAT capture!

Thanks! It was about a two-mile hike to get to ‘the pink ones’. They are almost certainly gone now – they were wilting fast at the end of our week in Borrego Springs. We probably never would have found them – except we saw a picture of them online and reverse engineered the location based on the angle to the mountain. I swear this stuff really IS 99% perspiration!
